The Effect of Cobalt-60 Radiation on Plant Growth

In our experiment we exposed Brassica rapa seeds to 0, 50,000, 150,000, 500,000, and 4,000,000 rads of Cobalt-60 in order to research the effects of radiation on plants. After planting the seeds in groups of six, we watered them daily and monitored the plants for 14 days in a greenhouse. When the growth time was expired we measured each of the plants and performed a one-factor data analysis including a two sample t-test. After reviewing the data and analysis we concluded that our hypothesis was correct; the seeds exposed to the highest levels of radiation had the lowest average height.
