The Effect of Muscle Relaxants and Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs on the Expansion of Rabbit Psoas Striated Muscle Tissue

The objective of the experiment was to determine which prescription medication, Skelaxin or Ibuprofen, had the greatest effect on striated muscle tissue.  This was done to simulate the usage of these drugs post workouts, an evident issue amongst athletes.  Solutions of the two medications were applied to strands of muscle tissue, and the percent change was measured underneath a microscope.  Once thirty trials were recorded for both types of medication, the mean of these trials was found for each group and used to conduct a two-sample t test.  This revealed that the Skelaxin solution significantly produced a greater mean width of striated muscle tissue, the main muscle stressed in athletic activity.
