Grass Paper — the Fiber of the Future

The purpose of this project is to develop a technique to efficiently produce paper from such common wastes as grass clippings. The experimentation will be conducted in a trial and error format in order to perfect the system of production. The basic concept will consist of combining grass clippings, water, and various chemicals such as starch or bleach to soak, chopping the mixture in a blender, and then pouring it onto a fine screen to dry. The variables will be how many and what kind of chemicals are used, the amount of water and grass clippings, the blending time, etc... The results can be applied to help reduce the amount of trees that are downed to meet paper needs, which will have a positive effect on the environment.
