The Effects of Acids on Teeth
The goal of our experiment was to find which acid: citric, hydrochloric, or phosphoric acid, created the greatest percent of mass loss with teeth. Two trials were run, exposing teeth to each acid, using distilled water as a control. The teeth were exposed to the acids for about two and a half hours, and then dried for 21 hours, each day, for three consecutive days. The results concluded that hydrochloric acid had the greatest effect on the teeth. Phosphoric acid had the second greatest effect. Citric acid had the least amount of effect.
