Effects of Heat on the Resistance of Glass

We wanted to determine whether or not we could change the resistance of 4 cm samples of glass tubing by heating them. We hooked alligator clips to a DC power supply, and clipped them to the ends of a 4 cm tube of glass. For each of the 16 trials, we heated the glass tubing with a Bunsen burner, and took readings on the voltage of the circuit throughout the trial. We found that by heating the glass tubing, we could reduce the resistance of the glass significantly.
