EFFECT OF TYPE OF ACID, MOLARITY AND TEMPERATURE ON THE EXTENT OF DISSOCIATION OF ACIDS

The purpose of our experiment was to determine the effect of Type of Acid, Molarity and Temperature on the extent of dissociation of acids. To obtain this objective we performed two Design of Experiments (DOE). For each DOE we performed eleven trials. Each trial consisted of performing a titration with different acids at various molarities and temperatures. When we analyzed the data we had collected, one of the experiments told us that Type of Acid and Temperature affected the extent of dissociation of acids. However, the other experiment told us that only Type of Acid affected the extent of dissociation. From this we could conclude that our experiment contained errors which produced these inconsistent results. However, since both experiments gave us Type of Acid as an effect, we concluded that Type of Acid affects the extent of dissociation of acids while Molarity and Temperature do not.
