QUANTATIVE ANALYSIS OF LEAD IN HAIR COLORING PRODUCTS

The purpose of the experiment was to determine if the amount of lead (II) acetate in two chosen hair coloring products exceeded the regulations set by the FDA. The two hair coloring products used in the experiment were Grecian Formula 16 and Lady Grecian Formula. To determine the amount of lead in the hair coloring products, we had to filter out the insoluble sulfur. We then mixed the hair coloring product with potassium iodide solution. The solution was then filtered again to filter out the lead (II) iodide. One sample t tests were performed on each of the data sets. From the results, we concluded that the amount of lead (II) acetate in each hair coloring product was below the regulations set by the FDA.
