FACTORS THAT AFFECT THE CONDUCTIVITY OF SPORTS DRINKS

This experiment tested three factors - temperature, ranging from 8°C to 35°C, UV light exposure, ranging from five minutes of exposure to no exposure, and brand, ranging from Gatorade to PowerAde. A conductivity probe measured the conductivity of the sports drinks in microsiemens per centimeter (µS/cm). The purpose of our experiment was to determine which factors had the greatest effect on the conductivity of sports drinks. The drinks were tested according to different combinations of the factors and then analyzed with a three factor Design of Experiment. After analyzing the data, this experiment showed that the factors of Brand, Temperature and Brand/Temperature had a significant effect on the conductivity of the sports drinks.
