Comparison of the Strength of Two Different Truss Designs

In our experiment we determined which truss design would hold the most weight, the Warren Truss design or our own design. To do this we constructed scaled models of each truss, using aluminum members and rivets for the joints. We placed each truss in a special apparatus used to test the truss and we attached a bucket to the middle joint. Sand was slowly added to the bucket until the truss failed. The weight at which each truss failed was recorded. We found that the warren truss held more weight by holding an average of 272.2N while ours only held 221.5N on average.
