Coaching Philosophy
My coaching philosophy is simple: Faith, Family, and my job (Teaching/Coaching). Keeping ones priorities in check year round helps put life in perspective. I try to surround myself around strong Teacher-Leaders who share a common core/belief as I do. We understand that we are role models for our student/athletes and we hold our student/athletes to a very high standard while keeping them accountable for their actions.

Coach Widdows Challenge

I went to Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep and received two varsity letters and earned "The Most Improved Player" award my Junior year. During my Junior year, the team went 11-1, winning the Sectional Championship, Prep Bowl Championship, Regional Championship, and then losing to Onsted in the semis. During my Senior year, our team went 13-0, and won the Sectional Championship, Prep Bowl, Regional Championship, and the State Championship held at the Silverdome. Also, the 1994 team ranked #1 in the state and 14th in the nation according to the USA Today Final Poll.

I attended Adrian College and participated at the collegiate level for four years. During my Junior year, our team won the MIAA League championship. Throughout my four years, I earned five "Player of the Week"awards while playing Outside Linebacker.

Before coming to this district, I have also coached for two other schools. During my first three years of coaching, I coached at Springport High School as the JV Defensive Coordinator and the Varsity Assistant. The next two years I was the JV Head Coach and still continued to assist at the varsity level. During 2000 the Varsity team made the playoffs for the first time in the school's history, but fell short in the first round to Bath. I was also was the Strength and Conditioning Coach during my three years at Springport.

I returned to OLSM and became the Freshman Head Coach and continued to assist with the Varsity program. During my three years at OLSM, the Varsity team made the playoffs all three years and were state runners-up in 2004. I also was the Strength and Conditioning Coach for two years.
