5-18-18 vs Parkway Christian

On Friday May 18th. The Varsity Softball team fell to Parkway Christian 5-2 in the final home game of the season for the Varsity Ladies. Stephanie Turner took the loss on the mound for the Stallions throwing a complete game in her first mound appearance in over a year, giving up 7 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strike outs. Getting hits for the Stallions were: Olivia Davis (RBI), Jenna Pastorino, Elizabeth Martin, Stephanie Turner, Danielle Erickson (double), and Emily Schultz. The ladies put up 6 hits, but sadly could not string enough together to overcome the 5 runs plated by Parkway. The ladies look forward to wrapping up the season on a high note this week, they are at South Lake on Tuesday, Cousino at Halmich Park Wednesday night for the Autism Awareness game, and Thursday at Port Huron. 5-15-18 vs New Haven

The Varsity Softball team fell to New Haven 11-1 on Tuesday May 15th. This drops the Stallions to 7-15 overall and 3-5 in league play, which officially puts them out of contention for the top spot. The Stallions now look to play spoiler to the rest of the leagues as they are focused on wrapping up the regular season with some wins. The bats from New Haven were too much for Sterling and another rough day at the plate only amplified things for Sterling. The stallions recorded only 3 hits on the day from Danielle Erickson, Emily Schultz, and Eliza Davis. The stallions are at home this week on Thursday May 17th against Centerline for Senior Day, and Friday May 18th against Parkway Christian for their final home game. Good Luck Ladies!!

5-10-18 vs Clintondale

The Stallions Varsity Softball Team defeated League Opponent Clintondale 17-9 on Thursday May 10th. This win improves the Stallions to 7-14 overall and 3-4 in league play. Senior first baseman Jenna Pastorino had the game of her career going 3-3 with a single, a triple, a 235ft homerun over centerfield fence, and drew the intentional walk keeping her from hitting the cycle. The lineup from top to bottom all got a hit, other multiple hitters were Sara Schultz, Daniell Joles, Eliza Davis. Sara Schultz took the win on the mound striking out 9, and lead the team in RBIs with 4. The team travels to New Haven on Tuesday the 15th to continue league play and then wraps up the week at home on Thursday the 17th and Friday the 18th with games against League Opponent Center line, and their final home game against Parkway Christian. 5-8-18 vs Lamphere

The Stallions Varsity Softball team fell to Lamphere 12-4 on Tuesday May 8th. Some costly errors by the Stallions and well timed hits by the Rams proved too much for Sterling to overcome. Sara Schultz and Elizabeth Evers split the pitching duties, the stallions did get 6 hits on the game leading the way was Danielle Erickson 2-3, Sara Schultz 2-4, other hits were added by Elizabeth Evers and Eliza Davis. The Stallions next travel to Clintondale to continue league play on Thursday May 10th. The loss moves the Stallions to 6-14 overall and 2-4 in league play. Good Luck Ladies!!

5-7-18 vs South Lake

The Varsity Softball team was victorious over league opponent South Lake 11-1 in 6 innings. Sara Schultz got the win on the mound striking out 9, she also lead the stallions offensvily going 4-4. Other top hitters were: Olivia Davis 2-4 with a double and 1 RBI, Katie Schultz 1 RBI, Danielle Joles 2 RBI, and Emily Schultz 4 RBI also all went 2-4. Great job ladies. The Stallions look to stay hot as they continue in league play this week with Lamphere at home on Tuesday and travel to Clintondale on Thursday. Good luck Stallions. This moves the team to 6-13 on the season and 2-3 in league play.

5-5-18 Fitzgerald Tournament

The Varsity Softball Team competed in the Fitzgerald Spartan Showdown Tournament over the weekend. The Stallions started the day off well winning their first two games: South Lake 17-5, top hitters Sara Schultz 3-4 (double and 4 RBI), Stephanie Turner 3-5 (3 RBI), Olivia Davis, Elizabeth Evers, Jenna Pastorino, and Danielle Joles all added 2 hits a pieces as well, and Clawson 5-2 top hitters were Katie Schultz 4-4, also Alannah Dulecki, Sara Schultz, Jenna Pastorino, Eliza Davis all added a hit as well. The third game they squared off against Warren Mott but struggled from the mound and at the plate losing 21-7, Danielle Joles recorded the only hit with 2 RBIs, RBIs were turned in by Alannah Dulecki, Sara Schultz, Elizabeth Martin, and Emily Schultz. The two wins early in the day guaranteed a spot in the championship game which was another match up with Warren Mott where the stallions sadly fell 10-0 in 5 innings, Katie Schultz and Sara Schultz recorded the only hits for Sterling, the loss came from too many errors in the field and a poor game at the plate. These games moved the stallions to a 5-13 overall record on the season. They get back into league play today against South Lake Monday the 7th, Lamphere Tuesday the 8th, and Clintondale Thursday May 10th. Good Luck Ladies.

5-1-18 vs Centerline

The Varsity Softball team fell to League Opponent Centerline 11-1 in 5 innings. This drops the Stallions to 3-11 overall and 1-3 in league play. The team struggled on both sides of the ball. Danielle Erickson was the only hit for the stallions, and Sara Schultz allowed 6 hits with 5 Ks, that combined with some errors defensively put the lopsided score at 11-1. The Stallions intend to get back to their winning ways against South Lake at home on Thursday May 3rd. Good Luck Stallions.

4-28-18 WCS Softball Tournament

The lady stallions softball team played in the annual WCS Softball Tournament that was held at University of Michigan Alumni Field. The stallions lost the first game to Cousino by a score of 14-3. Taking the loss on the mound was Sara Schultz who struck out 3 patriots, Elizabeth Evers entered in relief striking out 1. On the offensive side Jenna Pastorino lead the hitting going 2-2 with an RBI, and Alannah Dulecki followed going 1-2 with and RBI. Other hits on the game were Sara Schultz, Elizabeth Evers, Katie Schultz, Danielle Erickson, and Eliza Davis. This drops the stallions to 3-9 overall. The Stallions look to bounce back this week when they get back into league play on Tuesday at Centerline.

Game 2 for the Stallions was played under the lights against Mott. This was after Cousino had clinched the championship once they defeated Mott in the middle game. Taking the loss on the mound was Elizbeth Evers who struck out 2 Marauders, and Sara Schultz added 5 Ks in relief. Top offensive performance was turned in by Danielle Joles going 3-3, Stephanie Turner going 2-4, other hits were Sara Schultz also with an RBI, Elizabeth Evers, Jenna Pastorino, and Katie Schultz. This drops the stallions to 3-10 overall. The Stallions look to bounce back this week when they get back into league play on Tuesday at Centerline.

4-27-18 vs Lanse Crsuse North

Friday April 27th the Stallions Varsity softball team dropped a game to Lanse Creuse North 14-0. Elizabeth Evers took the loss from the mound striking out 1. Elizabeth Evers, Jenna Pastorino, and Emily Schultz were the only stallions to get a hit in the contest. The Stallions look to bounce back this week when they get back into league play on Tuesday at Centerline. This drops the Stallions to a 3-8 record overall.

4-26-18 vs New Haven

Thursday April 26th the Stallion Varsity Softball team fell to League Opponent New Haven 0-6. This drops the lady stallions to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in league play. The stallion bats went cold once again as only Sara Schultz, Danielle Erickson, Katie Schultz, and Elizabeth Martin were able to get a hit. Defensively a few errors for the stallions and some well timed hits by the rockets, plated the runs that lead to the loss. The stallions travel to Lanse Creuse North on Friday the 27th, and to Ann Arbor on Saturday the 27th to take on Cousino and Warren Mott at U of M Alumni Field for a round robin WCS Tournament.

4-24-18 vs Clintondale

Tuesday April 24th the Sterling Varsity Softball team defeated Clintondale 16-6 in 6 innings. The Stallions were lead offensively by Katie Schultz 4-5 with 4 RBI, Danielle Erickson 3-4 with 2 RBI, Stephanie Turner 2-4 with 2 RBI, and Olivia Davis 2-5 with 2 RBI. Olivias 2 RBIs in the 6th sealed the victory for the Stallions. Sara Schultz got the win on the mound Striking out 9 with 2 walks and 7 hits. Despite the lopsided victory the Stallions trailed most of the game until a 5th inning 10 run inning that brought the score to a 14-6 lead going into the 6th. The stallions always fought throughout the game. This win improves the ladies to 3-6 overall and 1-1 in league play. They next play at home on Thursday the 26th when they face league opponent New Haven.

4-19-18 vs Lamphere

Thursday April 19th, 2018 the Sterling Varsity Softball team traveled to Lamphere to open league play. The lady stallions struggled a bit defensively allowing 13 runs to score on 10 hits, while despite their offensive effort and 9 hits they only plated 5 runs. The Stallions threw both Senior Sara Schultz, and Elizabeth Evers during the game, but the costly errors in the 2nd and 6th innings proved too much for the Stallions to overcome. Offensively Danielle Erickson, Sara Schultz, Eliza Davis, Elizabeth Evers all recorded hits. Leading the offensive charge was Junior Center Fielder Katie Schultz going 3-4 at the plate. She also came to pitch in the 6th inning while the Stallions did their best to keep the game going into the 7th inning. She threw one pitch to the Rams #3 hitter to record the 3rd out. The stallions next will host Clintondale on Tuesday April 24th and New Haven on Thursday April 26th as they continue League Play. The ladies round out the week traveling to Lanse Creuse North on Friday, and will be hosting a round robin tournament for the WCS SOFTBALL TITLE BELT on the line (currently being housed at Cousino). That game will take place at U of M Alumni Field with game one at 3 pm (Cousino vs SH), game 2 at 5:15 (Cousino vs Mott), and game 3 at 7:30 (Mott vs SH). Admission is $5 for the whole day, hope to see you there.

4-13-18 vs Warren Woods Tower

Friday April 13, 2018 the Sterling Varsity Softball team fell to Warren Woods Tower in a very close game that was not decided until the 7th inning by a final score of 14-13. The multiple errors committed by the Stallions was the difference in the game as Sterling racked up 21 hits, some stolen bases, a Homerun. Jenna Pastorino, Katie Schultz, Danielle Erickson, Eliza Davis, and Danielle Joles each recorded 3 hits, while Sara Schultz added 2 hits including a Homerun and drove in 4 RBIS. The ladies hope to continue to keep the bats awake for the season, but maintain the defense they have shown before the Tower game.

4-12-18 vs Fraser

Thursday April 12, 2018 the Sterling Varsity Softball team dropped a game to Fraser. This moves the Stallions to a 2-4 record overall. Despite the loss the Stallions did perform better against the Ramblers the second time. In the end the bats for the ladies seem to have gone cold. As only Stephanie Turner, and Jenna Pastorino registered hits through the 6 inning mercy. The ladies look to bounce back and get back on track raising the W when they play Tower on Friday the 13th and Lake Shore on Tuesday before opening League play at Lamphere on Thursday.

4-10-18 vs Lakeview

Tuesday April 10, 2018 Sterling Varsity Softball lost to Lakeview by a score of 16-1 in 4 innings. The stallions struggled at the plate on their first game back from a week off for Spring Break. The Stallions went hitless on the date while giving up 14 hits with multiple homeruns. The lone run that scored for the Stallions was from Elizabeth Martin drawing a walk and Eliza Davis pinch running for her, stealing 2nd and 3rd base. She was plated when Danielle Joles also drew a walk and stole 2nd. The ladies are now 2-3 on the season and will take on Fraser away for the 2nd time on Thursday April 12th and Warren Woods Tower away on Friday April 13th.

3-28-18 vs Utica

       Wednesday March 28, 2018 Sterling Varsity Softball lost to Utica by a score of 10-0 in 5 innings. This drops the Stallions to a 2-2 overall record. The Stallions struggled at the plate as Sophomore Danielle Erickson and Freshman Eliza Davis with the only 2 hits for Sterling, but patience at the plate did allow the Stallions to draw 4 walks. Danielle also had a stolen base. Senior hurler Sara Schultz took the loss on the mound for Sterling striking out 2.

3-26-18 vs Fitzgerald

         Monday March 26, 2018 Sterling Varsity Softball Defeated Fitzgerald in a 20-5 Mercy in 4 innings. Getting the win on the Mound was Senior Sara Schultz striking out 6 and giving up 4 hits, at the plate Sara knocked in 5 RBIs going 2-3 at the plate with a double. Junior Katie Schultz also recorded 2 hits with 1 RBI, Junior Liz Martin and Freshman Eliza Davis both also added 2 RBIs each. Great job ladies. This moves the stallions to 2-1 on the season. They have a full lineup this week taking on Grosse Pointe South at home on Tuesday the 27th, travel to Utica on Wednesday the 28th, and then host Warren Mott on Thursday the 29th with a noon start. Keep it going ladies.

3-23-18 vs Clawson

         Friday March 23rd Sterling Varsity Softball defeated Clawson 15-14. Getting the win on the mound for SHHS was Elizabeth Evers she also lead the team offensively recording 2 hits on 3 at bats with 6 RBIs. Evers had 8 strikeouts on the day. Other offensive leaders were Layla Gibala with a double and 3 RBI and Stephanie Turner 1 hit with 2 RBI. This improves the Stallions to 1-1 on the season. Great job ladies!!

3-22-18 vs Fraser

          Final 19-0 Fraser in 4. Top performances by the Stallions were turned in by Danielle Erickson who did a great job defensively at 3rd and even got 2 stolen bases. Sara Schultz registered the only hit for the Lady Stallions. Despite the lop sided score the ladies kept their heads and are ready to move on and focus on the next game.
